Please help spread the word… reblog this post, post the link to your Facebook, Tweet about it, email it to your friends… just help us get this ‘out there’ please. The safety and well-being of so many pets depends on it! We can help, we just need to know how best to do it — and this survey will help immensely. Thank you.
UPDATE… As of 2/18 at 6:30am (PST) we are just about 200 respondents shy of our target goal of 1,000 respondents! Thank you :-) To help push us over the edge, last night I ‘sweetened the pot’ a bit… if we reach the 1,000 respondent goal, The Preventive Vet will donate $100 to a deserving animal charity that our Facebook fans will get to decide! That’s right, if we hit (or exceed) the 1,000 mark, our Facebook fans will get to vote on and decide which animal charity will get a $100 donation from The Preventive Vet. So take the survey, share it around (and encourage others to share it too), AND ‘like’ our Facebook page for a chance to decide which charity will get the $100.
More details are on our Facebook page, but currently nominated charities include Fences For Fido, Family Dogs New Life, Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon, AAHA Helping Pets Fund, RedRover, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Stop by the Facebook page to nominate another if you’d like, and then stay tuned on SUnday to learn if we hit our target. If so, voting will begin Monday on the Facebook page.
Come on, take AND share the survey… https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/37VJX5Y (this link is now closed)
Stay tuned… starting tomorrow you get your big chance to help pets and shape the field of pet safety! You might also win a cool prize from PetHub or a Starbucks gift card, just for providing your feedback. Link to go live tomorrow 2/9/12. Spread the word!
Hi all. I’ve put together an online survey (SurveyMonkey) to gauge pet owner/guardian awareness of general pet safety and their desire for a comprehensive and practical pet safety resource.
The survey should only take about 10-15 minutes to complete and there are chances to win a prize too. One survey respondent will be selected at random (by SurveyMonkey) to win my sweepstakes prize… a super cool and useful QR code pet ID tag PLUS 1 year Gold level subscription from the innovative folks at PetHub. The person, business, or blog that refers the most people to the survey (who then go on to complete it) will be given a $50 Starbucks gift certificate as a ‘thank you’ for their referrals.
I will post the link to the survey here on the blog tomorrow (2/9/12) and the survey will be open until 11:45pm (PST) on Saturday 2/18/12. So please stay tuned and please help me spread the word. I’m really trying to reach and help as many pet owners/guardians as possible.
Much appreciated!

I’ve got plenty of data from the various veterinary hospitals I’ve worked in over the years and there is good published data about the risk factors for feline urethral obstruction. But what I’m trying to do here is to get a ‘real world’ appreciation of pet owner’s experiences with feline urethral obstruction. If you’ve ever had a cat that has suffered a urinary obstruction, please take a minute to take this online survey. Thank you. Together we can help promote the message of awareness, preparedness, and prevention!
Don’t forget to check out my recent blog posts on feline urethral obstruction. The first installment of the series can be found here.
Thank you!
