Having relocated to Portland myself in 2008, I certainly agree with the results of this survey. Further proof that The Preventive Vet landed in the right place :-)

Where do you live? How’s the “dog friendliness” of your town?

In this video, I highlight the potential danger that Gorilla Glue, if swallowed, can cause your dog.

The timelapse video segment films what happens when the glue is in contact with liquids, in this case a bowl of water, but could easily be the inside of your pet’s stomach.

After about 45 minutes, the glue triples in size and becomes hardened. If this happened to your pet, it would require emergency surgery. You can prevent such an emergency to your puppy or other pet by keeping these glues in hard-to-access places away from your pet.

Please share this important video around, and encourage your friends, family, and followers to do the same. All pet owners, as well as all parents of small children, truly need to see this.

Thank you.

Jason

Thank you, all! Your shares, contributions, and support made the success of my IndieGoGo campaign all possible… thank you :-)

I’ll be getting in touch soon with surveys to get T-shirt sizes, book choices, etc. Stay tuned.

For those who didn’t get in on the campaign opportunity to pre-order the books, or get other perks, you will have your chance soon. I’m expecting the books to be ready around mid-December and then they’ll be available on my website and (hopefully) in vet offices, shelters, and other places around the country. Watch the website for updates.

Thank you all again, and have a wonderful day!

Jason

The IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for the publishing of my two pet safety tip books is nearing its end. The campaign ends this coming Wednesday (Oct. 3rd) and it’s still $3,625 away from its $15,000 fundraising target. We’re getting close, but I’d truly appreciate it if you would help ensure the success of this campaign by clicking the picture above to donate and share. Thank you all for following along and for your support and encouragement as I try to make the world a better and safer place for all cats and dogs!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jason C. Nicholas (aka “The Preventive Vet”)

Please reblog this post and encourage all of your friends and family to contribute to the campaign as well - there’s lots of great perks available on the campaign page for those that do. Thank you!

Important for everybody to be aware of! Even if you don’t have cats, you likely bring or send flowers to people who do. Awareness and prevention are crucial.

Reminder about the importance of Heat Stroke awareness in pets - even as we head into the Northern hemisphere Fall. #IHateHeatStroke

Hi everyone. Today, as you well know, is the anniversary of an event that was truly heart wrenching and devastating. Fortunately, it was also an event that gave rise to a collaborative rescue and recovery effort that demonstrated so well the beauty of life and (one of) the amazing contributions that animals make to humankind.

To pay some of that back, I will be donating partial proceeds from the sales of my forthcoming pet safety tip books to three different animal-centric charities.

To mark this particular day, and to honor the service of the dogs and their handlers who helped out at 9/11 - and in so many ways both before and after - one of those charities will be National Disaster Search Dog Foundation. They are an amazing organization and are very deserving of this recognition and financial support! (Please learn more about them.)

For their tireless work and for everything they do for the human-animal bond and public safety, SDF will be receiving 5% of the (post-IndieGoGo campaign) proceeds from sales of the dog book :-)

I hope you will join me in my excitement for the support that we will be able to provide this wonderful organization!

Be well everybody. Have a great day, and #NeverForget.

- Jason

PS - I will be announcing the other two charities as they are decided, so please stay tuned. In fact, there will likely be an opportunity for you all to help decide one of them! Please consider a financial contribution or help spread the word for my IndieGoGo campaign to publish my pet safety tip books… www.IndieGoGo.com/ThePreventiveVet. Every bit helps. Thank you!

Today is National Pet Memorial Day! What better way to memorialize and pay tribute to your pet than a dedication page in a book that is going to improve pet safety for all pets! Right now you can do so by visiting this page… www.IndieGoGo.com/ThePreventiveVet. You can also have your pet illustrated as the cover model for either the cat or dog book! But act quickly, there are limited quantities of dedication pages and only one opportunity to secure the cover model spot - and the campaign only lasts through the end of this month. Here’s the link again… www.IndieGoGo.com/ThePreventiveVet. Spread the word!
